Christy Durbin is president of both Education Enrollment Services, which acquires students for post-secondary schools, and Radio Sales Group, Red Ventures' partnership with SIRIUS Satellite Radio. She has been with Red Ventures since December 2005, initially managing Red Ventures' businesses in Puerto Rico. Prior to joining Red Ventures, Christy worked at Deloitte Consulting doing marketing strategy and at Bank of America in product management. Christy received her bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary and her MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Why did you join Red Ventures? I joined Red Ventures because I wanted to join a team where I could make an end-to-end impact on a real business. I wanted to work at a place where I could leverage a broad skill set to form strategy and drive execution, where I could launch products and reposition existing ones, and where I could be part of a team of top talent at all levels. I SWEAR it wasn't because I was going to be responsible for businesses in Puerto Rico!
Why do you like working at Red Ventures? Red Ventures runs at full throttle. It still amazes me ALL that happens in an hour, a day, or a week. I think that we operate in dog years compared to traditional corporate environments. I often ask the question: "Did we only just decide that last week?"
What is the most interesting project you have worked on to date at Red Ventures? In two months, the team completely refreshed the value proposition and positioning of a product. This was a comprehensive project that covered everything from creative development to operationally-focused channel "makeovers" to better support the product as it moved into the next stage in its lifecycle.
What part of your personal development while at Red Ventures are you most proud of? Learning to drive a car in Puerto Rico...never say never!
When is the last time you laughed out loud - really laughed - here at the office? At least once a day. The people at Red Ventures are nutty.
