At a Glance
CNET is seeking an experienced Director of Video Production to help develop & execute our video strategy. This person should have experience leading and inspiring a team of hosts, producers, and editors. The ideal candidate should also be passionate about consumer technology, and have a deep understanding of production workflows, YouTube best practices, content trends, and emerging social/video platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Help lead daily production planning meetings, and make editorial video decisions in alignment with team goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues across CNET to produce high quality video content for special features, breaking news, live events, product launches, and general assignments.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with your direct reports, and provide feedback, coaching and guidance as needed.
- Assist in developing the current CNET video strategy, and planning strategies around new platforms and content channels.
- Collaborate with CNET sales & marketing teams to produce high quality, thoughtful, and entertaining video content for CNET’s platforms and its partners about consumer tech, cool science and fun stuff
- Help grow, develop and manage our roster of on-air talent.
- Lead the development of special projects, and mentor our team of producers/editors to create unique, visual, emotional and compelling content.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of video production that includes experience launching and running live, on-demand, scripted & unscripted series.
3+ years of experience managing a team of producers/editors.
A demo reel or portfolio of work.
Experience creating & executing comprehensive video strategies to capture mobile and social audiences, with a specific focus on YouTube.
Knowledge of current internet publishing trends, SEO principles, and YouTube best practices.
BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience - broadcast journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
