EVP of Revenue for Media & Commerce

The Executive Vice President of Revenue will be a strategic business leader and member of the Red Ventures Media & Commerce executive team. Through trusted market relationships, innovation of our offerings and a motivated sales team, you will lead the development of $200M+ of revenue with expectations to grow 20+% each year.

Our portfolio of Media & Commerce businesses is anchored by CNET – the world’s largest advice brand – and includes ZDNet, NextAdvisor (a partnership with TIME), Metacritic, GameSpot, TVGuide and more. In addition to this core portfolio, your team will represent the full Red Ventures Media Network in the market, including trusted brands like Bankrate, The Points Guy and Lonely Planet. This full portfolio represents 150M+ monthly unique visitors in the USA.

You will build and scale revenue, relationships, and teams through direct ownership of Strategic Client Development, Direct Media Sales, Programmatic Media Sales (Programmatic Guaranteed, Private Marketplace and Open Exchange), Commerce, Integrated Marketing, Branded Content Studio and Sales Operations. You will lead a team of around 125+ across multiple markets in the USA.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the go-to-market strategy to generate long-term client relationships
  • Lead all new business development efforts including a healthy balance of RFP responses and proactive, long-term integrated partnerships.
  • Build a disruptive and out-of-the box sales strategy, supporting our journey to modernize a legacy media organization, pushing the boundaries between the intersection of digital media and ecommerce
  • Build a metrics driven sales organization focused on driving decisions through the use of data
  • Cultivate and leverage deep client relationships in our endemic categories (consumer electronics, automotive, home improvement, gaming, streaming services, retailers) and extend into strategic growth categories (financial services, crypto, travel, education, health & wellness, CPG)
  • Lead via influence internally, collaborating closely with the Media & Commerce executive team and other stakeholders (editorial, video, product, etc) to craft and communicate a vision, clear goals, metrics and results
  • Become an expert in RV’s end to end capabilities and client solutions across media, commerce, performance marketing, software and data – in order to position complex, multi-disciplinary partnerships
  • Generate and optimize revenue opportunities for the present and future, balancing advertiser needs, business needs and the interests of our audience.
  • Drive innovation and scalable Sales Operations processes, including yield management, pricing, client services, sales finance and ad operations.
  • Partner with M&C Product & Data leaders to innovate new ad products and data solutions we can take to clients that drive both the business and industry forward.
  • Create a passionate and inspired sales culture by providing effective sales coaching, communicating as much as necessary with all levels of management, employees and partners to accomplish your team’s goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience 
    • 15+ years of successful digital media ad sales experience with significant experience in organizational leadership and management roles, including cross-functional team oversight of 75+ employees in a geo-distributed and performance-driven environment
    • Bachelor’s degree with a track record of professional success; MBA a plus
    • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term client relationships at scale at senior levels at Fortune 500 organizations

    • Outstanding influential verbal and written communication skills; the ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to senior internal and external stakeholders

    • Data-driven business acumen and ability to drive business in a metrics focused environment
    • Believer in healthy conflict who easily navigates through disagreements and helps others reach win-win resolutions and productive conclusions

    • A hunger to win followership and a desire to be an active and collaborative thought partner across Red Ventures
