Road to Hire is hiring Student Career Coaches to support the growing College Program. As a student career advisor, you will provide direct student support and coordinate student programming for students. The Student Career Coach should be motivated by the opportunity to develop and create opportunities for under-served young adults.
An ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills who is excited to roll up their sleeves and engage in every element of our programs. This role involves building and maintaining deep relationships with students of many different backgrounds and experiences, engaging mentors and partners to support students wholeheartedly, and supporting students’ professional development. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience working in higher education or recruiting, with a strong preference towards individuals with case management experience. Experience in Career Counseling and Career Coaching is also strongly preferred.
The Student Career Coach will be a mission-driven individual with an acute eye for detail, a strong ability to take the initiative, comfort interacting with students in groups + individually, and confidence in balancing many priorities. This is a full-time role that may require occasional weekends or evenings.
This is a hybrid role based out of our South Charlotte office. The team is in the office weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a caseload of 50-55 students across different colleges/universities in North Carolina.
Case management will include the following:
- A high-touch support model of weekly/bi-weekly meetings with students via Zoom
- Utilizing a CRM platform for detailed note-taking as well as tracking students' success
- Strong knowledge of campus resources, knowing when to intervene and refer
- Active participation in student success through coaching (i.e. time management and study skills)
- Supporting students through the internship search and job search process
- Strong ability to hold students accountable and to a high academic standard
- Ability to research and establish connections on college campuses to contribute to student success
- Travel for campus visits to meet with students once a month
- Collaborative Projects and Events
- Own projects from start to finish through strong communication, goal setting, and deadline accountability, with a strong desire for feedback along the way, that contributes to the overall success of the college program
- Collaborate on events with other college program team members to offer students a robust experience.
- Work to develop and implement curriculum during our robust summer programming
- Support and facilitate summer programming for students
What We’re Looking for
- 2+ years of experience in higher education, ideally career counseling/student coaching or campus recruiting
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to quickly build trust with students
- Experience Case Managing at least 50-55 students with proven methods for success
- Passionate about and strongly aligned with Road to Hire’s core beliefs and educational philosophy; excited to create employment opportunities for underserved young adults
- Strong ability to set deadlines for themselves as well as for projects
- Accountable team player with exceptional communication skills and strong organizational skills
- Strong collaborative skills with a desire to work on projects with teammates
- Strong self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously
- Desire to work hands-on in a performance-based, analytically-driven, and fast-paced environment while displaying confidence and a professional presence
Compensation
- Cash Compensation Range: $52,000-$62,000

- Golden Door Scholars (GDS): Supports undocumented and DACA or TPS holders across the U.S. in their journeys through higher education and high-earning career opportunities.
