At a Glance
ZDNET is seeking a full-time Associate Editor who will contribute to the editorial commerce team. This editor will both create and edit content. ZDNET's commerce content provides expertise and buying advice about the world's most innovative technology products and connects the audience with the best deals for buying them. The role requires a person with attention to detail, a genuine curiosity about technology and innovation, and a high emotional IQ.
What You’ll Do
- Pitch, write, update, and edit commerce content covering the most useful and important products in the tech industry
- Produce clean, unique, and well-researched copy
- Evaluate products and make well-reasoned recommendations
- Take hands-on photos and videos of products
- Edit content for style, tone, and flow; conform content to in-house style
- Write great headlines and descriptions, and select compelling images to represent stories
- Use analytics and other tools to track and optimize story performance
- Work on tentpole commerce content opportunities, including Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day, and other events and mega sales
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ years of writing or editing experience with consumer-focused content
- Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality content
- Natural curiosity and the ability to generate new content ideas
- Positive, energetic written voice
- Understanding of SEO concepts and best practices
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Passionate about team collaboration
- Growth mindset and openness to feedback and coaching
- Must be highly adaptable and flexible; priorities change rapidly and regularly
- Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener
Compensation
- Cash Compensation Range: $42,000-$60,000*
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
